Five people were killed and around 25 others injured on Thursday after a bus met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The vehicle had been on its way from Poonch to Jammu when the incident took place near Bhimber Gali. This is the second bus accident to occur within 24 hours in the northern Union Territory.
"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a tragic accident in Rajouri. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. The district administration is providing all possible assistance," the office Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted.Earlier on Wednesday, at least 11 people were killed and nearly 30 others were injured when the minibus on its way to Mandi from Sawjian met with an accident in Poonch district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had condoled the loss of lives and announced Rs 2 lakh as ex-gratia each from the PM's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased.
